Lesson 1.1
Welcome to the exciting world of aviation! Becoming a pilot is one of the most rewarding journeys you can take. As a private pilot, you will gain the freedom to fly yourself and passengers for personal and business travel, build time toward advanced certificates, and develop skills that last a lifetime.
In this first lesson, we will explore why people fly, what it means to be a pilot, and the responsibilities that come with the privilege of flight.
Why Do People Fly?
People fly for many reasons: business travel, visiting family, adventure, training, or simply the pure joy of flight. For many, becoming a pilot fulfills a lifelong dream.
What Does a Private Pilot Do?
A Private Pilot Certificate allows you to fly single-engine aircraft (and some multi-engine with additional training) for non-commercial purposes. You can carry passengers, but you cannot be paid to fly.
The Pilot’s Responsibilities
Pilots are responsible for the safety of everyone on board. This includes preflight planning, weather decisions, aircraft maintenance awareness, and always putting safety first.
Flying is both a privilege and a serious responsibility. The training you begin today will build the foundation for a lifetime of safe flying.
